A multi-functional work space …

This room is actually an extension of the hallway in this home, a space at the bottom of the stairs which previously housed only a boiler. With careful planning, the cubby under the stairs became a mini utility, the boiler was boxed and hidden away and the rest of the space was transformed into a work and craft area.

An IKEA hack, using EKET draws and shelving, a piece of worktop and some mid century inspired legs was the best way to maximise the window space for work and craft storage. The vintage trunk houses fabric while an existing lamp was re-sprayed to fit with the room.

There were a lot of books to fit into a small space so we designed bespoke storage, to the ceiling. An upturned waste paper basket became a lamp shade while spray painted chicken wire created a wall mounted notice board.

A reclaimed set of metal drawers provides storage for paperwork, an existing vintage chair is recovered to work with the scheme, while vintage boxes, baskets and tins house crafting essentials.
